Elephant Tree

The band from London plays a super laid-back sound, which they themselves describe as a mixture of warm fuzz and vocal harmonies. We can underline that. With lots of reverb in the vocals, accompanied by fat overdrive and heavy drum runs that echo off into the distance, they create some pretty dreamy tracks. You can hear this especially on their 2020 album Habits. On the slightly older albums, such as Theia (2014), the band shows that they can also be quite rough and old-school stoner, with a broad sound and shouts, always moving forward – almost hypnotizing. Melodic doom actually describes it quite well when you listen to how the band have increased their initially scratchy and broad fuzz into a lot of atmosphere, with reverb and echoing sounds here and there, to which you just want to shake to the beat until you are fully involved in a trance-like state.
