Kalamata

Instrumental? We’ve got it! Kalamata will be playing their mix of stoner, psychedelic and progressive at the next festival. For the band from Hildesheim, this means long songs that gradually build up into powerful sound experiences. You can feel how the combination of guitars, bass and drums literally plays itself into a trance – and this also spreads to the audience. Heavy but clear bass lines often underpin playful guitar melodies, which can also quickly turn into fat riffs. Their song Shows, on their 2017 album Disruption, is a prime example of this interplay of delicate passages that then turn into fat bass and lots of melodic overdrive. The whole thing is always accompanied by dynamic drum beats, which sometimes carry the songs along lightly, sometimes energetically pounding them forward.
